Nicole Kummer identified as dead Connecticut woman found stabbed to death

Connecticut state police have identified a body found late Wednesday afternoon in a wooded area of Colchester. Classified as a homicide, the body was identified as Nicole Kummer of Hartford.

Kummer, 28, was found with multiple stab wounds, reported the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Troopers said the body was found near the intersection of Cato Corner Road and Pine Street on Wednesday shortly after 5 p.m. Neighbors described the area as “very quiet residential neighborhood.”

Police said they secured the scene on Thursday and conducted an immediate search for other potential victims, but none were found. Detectives from the Eastern District Major Crime Department investigated the scene as well.

It’s unclear how long her body was there or why she was stabbed.

Police said Kummer had prior convictions for prostitution. She was initially identified by police as a woman with “multiple facial piercings, a tattoo on her left bicep that reads ‘Jayden’ and a tattoo on her right bicep that reads ‘Nicole,’ with a butterfly tattoo underneath the name ‘Nicole.'”

“There’s no indication of any risk to the general public,” First Selectman Stan Soby said. “We don’t know the specifics of what happened. What we do know is that a young woman had her life taken from her. We can hope that somebody knows something about what happened and comes forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Major Crimes at 860-896-3230 or state police at 860-685-8190.

The most recent homicide in Colchester was more than 10 years ago.
