New ‘Wonder Woman’ promo teases villain Ares

While Warner Bros’ new DC Cinematic Universe film Wonder Woman arrives in just a few weeks, fans are not getting a ton of promotion.

One new teaser, a TV spot, gives fans a brief and blurry view at the movie’s villain Ares, played by David Thewlis.

Thewlis plays the enigmatic Sir Patrick Morgan, who sits on the war council advocating for peace. Check out the full synopsis below and those teasers. Patty Jenkins directs with Star Trek star Chris Pine cast as her love interest, Steve Trevor.

The film also stars Robin Wright, Danny Huston, Connie Nielsen, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner, Lucy Davis, Lisa Loven Kongsli, Eugene Brave Rock, and Saïd Taghmaoui.

Wonder Woman opens in theaters on June 2nd.


Here’s the official synopsis:

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Robin Wright as General Antiope, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, Lucy Davis as Etta Candy, David Thewlis, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner and Saïd Taghmaoui. The film is directed by Patty Jenkins and written by Allan Heinberg and Geoff Johns, story by Zack Snyder & Allan Heinberg.
