New ‘Wonder Woman 2’ teaser logo confirms the film will be set in 1984

Fans learned that Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 2 would take place during the Cold War in the 1980s, but a Facebook post by DC Entertainment president and chief creative officer Geoff Johns, indicates that the film will take place in exactly 1984. After the Johns’ post, Jenkins placed the logo as her Twitter image.

Check out the pic below.

Gal Gadot returns as Diana/Wonder Woman for the sequel, from a script by Jenkins, Johns and Dave Callaham.

The first DC feature was released a year ago breaking records at the box office for a female-directed live-action movie, and becoming the highest grossing film stateside of the summer with over $421M and $821M worldwide.

Kristen Wiig will play the villain Cheetah in the sequel, with Narcos star Pedro Pascal also joining the cast in an undisclosed role, which was described as “pivotal” at the time of the casting news.

Wonder Woman 2 opens on Nov. 1, 2019

Not much is known of the new film, but here are some remarks:

“We’re actually making a totally different film with a lot of the same, similar like things that we love, but it’s its own movie completely, so it’s not ‘two’ to us”, Jenkins told Entertainment Tonight.

“It’s an entirely new adventure together that we couldn’t be luckier [to do]”.

From back in October:

Omega UndergroundWonder Woman 2 is set to begin production in June 2018, thereby giving the sequel plenty of time to meet its scheduled December 2019 release.

“The sequel will be a period piece, with Princess Diana facing off against the Soviet Union during the 1980s,” the outlet noted. “Wonder Woman 2 is set to release December 13th, 2019″
