New ‘The Expendables 3’ trailer, banner feature all-star cast, Steven Seagal talks

Lionsgate has released a new The Expendables 3 trailer and banner. The new film adds some all-star action hero talent and the new trailer showcases these stars.

The cast has changed a bit, but not the formula. Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Kelsey Grammer, and Gibson get some more screen time in this trailer as the explosions boom.

In a recent interview with The Big Issue, Steven Seagal addressed questions on not appearing in an Expendables film because “I just didn’t like some of the people involved.” Pressed further, he said simply “Life is too short to work with funny people.”

At the Cannes Film Festival, the cast rolled into town on tanks before addressing the press. “We are children with arthritis, we are young forever,” said Stallone to great applause when he was asked how he and his cronies will know when it’s time to hang it up on actioners. He added, “I think if you wake up in the morning and your ass falls off, it’s time to retire.”

Unlike the first two films, Expendables 3 will be PG-13 instead of Rated-R. “We want to reach as many people as possible. It’s very close to an R, believe me, it’s right there. But I think we owe it to the next generation. We thought we’d join that club for a while.”

Stallone was asked what will be different about this film and he said, “With the first one, I didn’t know which direction to go. It was experimental, more dramatic and heavier. In the second one, I think we went too far in the comedy and one liners. (For the third film) I realized we should get back to being more dramatic. When men and women know each other, there’s a kind of human comedy, not jokes, but when the action starts I don’t like to do jokes. So, I believe we finally got it right on the third one. It’s kind of like marriage.”

The Expendables 3 stars Stallone, Harrison Ford, Snipes, Banderas, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Grammer, Mel Gibson, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Ronda Rousey, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey, Victor Ortiz, and Glen Powell.

The film opens August 15th in theaters.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Expendables 3:

In THE EXPENDABLES 3, Barney (Stallone), Christmas (Statham) and the rest of the team come face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone who Barney was forced to kill… or so he thought. Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables — but Barney has other plans. Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables’ most personal battle yet.
