New teaser poster for ‘Sin City A Dame to Kill For’ keeps tie to graphic novel, lists all-star cast

The new teaser poster for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For confirms the title linking it directly to the classic comic book story by Frank Miller.

Displayed at AFM, director Robert Rodriguez also layouts the incredible cast for the sequel to the 2005 film.

The new movie draws from Miller’s novels, but it also contains new stories created just for the film. Similar to the first, it’s being filmed almost entirely on green-screen stages, with the backgrounds and stark black-and-white imagery created digitally.

The second film brings back several stars from the original, including Bruce Willis as Det. John Hartigan, Mickey Rourke as the misunderstood bruiser Marv, femme fatales Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, and Jamie King.

Joining the cast are Josh Brolin as Dwight (the part played by Clive Owen in the original), and Eva Green plays the seductive Ava Lord, the titular dame for whom some might, in fact, kill.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ray Liotta, Jamie Chung, Juno Temple and Jeremy Piven are also new to the cast, with Dennis Haysbert taking on the role of Manute, originally played by the late Michael Clarke Duncan.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For arrives in theaters on August 22, 2014.
