New ‘Star Wars Force Awakens’ trailer: Daisy Ridley takes center stage, tons of new footage

During halftime of Monday Night Football, Disney used their ESPN product to release the latest, possibly the last full length, trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Daisy Ridley as Rey takes center stage in the action with the new villain, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), saying that he will “will finish what you started” over the image of the mangled and melted Darth Vader mask.

Director J.J. Abrams breaths new life into the famous franchise. Harrison Ford returns as Han Solo and has a few more lines in the new footage, mostly about the “forgotten past” revealed in the earlier films. Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker is still notably absent, so fans are still holding their breath for the big reveal.

John Boyega’s Finn is again seen with a blue lightsaber, but it is likely Rey who must face her abilities to manipulate the force. She and Kylo Ren have long been rumored to be the offspring of Solo and Leia, each going in different directions to deal with their family’s heritage.

The big event also included the news that tickets are NOW on sale. Even two months out, expect a rush on seat and a hysteria to see the film in the first day or so. If the film lives up to just a portion of the hype, expect a three-frenzy which will last all through the Christmas holiday.

Check out the footage below for yourself.

“It’s true. All of it,” says Solo — a great moment for the die-hard fans. Set years after the emperor’s fall, the galaxy has moved on, forgotten about Luke, Jedi Knights and the Dark Side of the Force.

Just the brief image of Leia (Carrie Fisher) mourning pulls at the hearts of fans. Who is Rey crying over (see the image below)?

Also returning is Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker, joined by Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Andy Serkis, Gwendoline Christie, Max von Sydow and others.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrives in theaters on December 18.
