New ‘Sherlock’ season 3 tease from BBC One has Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman ‘against the world’

With his signature long coat with the collars turned up, Sherlock is back and can be seen coming face to face with pal Watson still leaving us in complete darkness of how he managed to fake his own death.

Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman return for season 3 of the hit BBC One series and the promo features several of their dramas: The Musketeers, The Great Train Robbery, Quirke, The Escape Artist, By Any Means and What Remains.

Lars Mikkelsen joins the cast as Charles Augustus Magnussen, whom she describes as “Sherlock’s new nemesis.”

The current theory is that Magnussen is actually a modernized version of Charles Augustus Milverton, the so-called “king of the blackmailers” who appeared in the Arthur Conan Doyle short story, “The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton.” That story took place after Sherlock Holmes’ return from Reichenbach Falls, which would be appropriate since the third season will also take place after Sherlock faked his death.

Sherlock season 3 returns in October with a US debut expected in January.
