New poll: Donald Trump leads Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio in Florida, Georgia

As the Iowa primary nears, Donald Trump continues to lead polls in both Florida and Georgia, leading senators Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, who are second and third in both polls.

A post-debate OpinionSavvy survey conducted for FOX 35 shows Florida voters giving Trump a 12-point lead over Cruz with Jeb Bush behind Rubio for third. The “likely primary voters” were comprised of 70% who watched the last debate in South Carolina and “…nearly 37 percent declared Trump the winner. Cruz came in second at 25 percent and Rubio in third at 17 percent.”

The results:

Trump: 31%
Cruz: 19%
Bush: 13%
Rubio: 12%
Carson: 7%
Christie: 4%
Fiorina: 4%
Kasich: 3%
Paul: 3%
Huckabee:2%
Santorum: 0%
Undecided: 2%

In Georgia: Trump leads Cruz, 33% to 23%, followed by Rubio at 8% with Ben Carson and Bush at 7%. All of the other candidates were at 3% or less. Full analysis – click here

“These races remain very fluid, but for the moment, Florida’s results are very similar to those of our poll released this weekend of South Carolina likely GOP voters, where Trump enjoyed virtually the same lead that he has in this poll of Florida Republicans,” notes FOX 13 pollster and InsiderAdvantage founder Matt Towery in the report.

The survey by OpinionSavvy in conjunction with InsiderAdvantage of 838 likely Florida primary was conducted Sunday, January 17 by IVR phone and mobile devices. The survey has a margin of error of 3.3%. It is weighted for age, race, and gender.

Georgia data: 803 Registered Georgia voters were selected randomly from a list of voters determined likely to participate in the 2016 primary. Voters were contacted and surveyed on the evening of January 17 th , 2016 using an interactive voice response system (landline) and Registered Georgia voters determined likely to participate in the 2016 primary and otherwise unreachable by landline were surveyed on their mobile device on the evening of January 17 th, 2016 (mobile) — margin of error 3.4%.  It is weighted for age, race, and gender.
