New ISIS video depicts Jordanian pilot Muath al-Kaseasbeh burned alive

A video circulating on social media on Tuesday appears to show the murder of a Jordanian fighter pilot by militants of the Islamic State group. Muath al-Kaseasbeh dressed in an orange jumpsuit standing in a cage, before being burned alive.

While the footage has not been verified, each of the Islamic State murder video have been validated.

The footage appears at the end of an over 20-minute video condemning Jordanian forces’ involvement in coalition airstrikes against the Sunni Muslim terrorist group.

The Jordanian government confirmed that Islamic State militants had killed the pilot, and said his death took place on Jan. 3, according to Jordan’s state television.

Lt. Muath Al-Kaseasbeh, 26, was captured by the terrorists in December when his Jordanian F-16 crashed near Raqqa, Syria, the de facto capital of the group’s Islamic caliphate. He is the only pilot from the U.S.-led coalition to have been captured to date.

The spokesman for the Jordanian armed forces confirmed the death of the “hero pilot” and vowed revenge.

“While the military forces mourn the martyr, they emphasize his blood will not be shed in vain. Our punishment and revenge will be as huge as the loss of the Jordanians,” Mamdouh al-Ameri said in a statement read on Jordanian TV.

Following militant demands, Jordan’s government had said it was willing to trade Sajida al-Rishawi, an al-Qaida prisoner, for the pilot, but that it wanted proof of life first.

Al-Rishawi faces death by hanging in Jordan for her role in triple 2005 hotel bombings that killed 60 people.

Since photos and video have been released (go here), questions have been asked where is the breaking point until resolution is found? From a rise in belligerent fundamentalism in the mid East to the rise of neocon US policies and a jostling of conflicting interests. Which raised the question how far will ISIS go in it’s latest pr efforts (once again) to keep its ‘dramatic’ cause alive in the face of a recent string of defeats in once occupied territories?
