New ‘Han Solo’ film will be Lawrence Kasdan last ‘Star Wars’ project

Kasdan is one of the primary forces bringing Star Wars back to cinema screens, co-writing and producing next month’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens and taking on the same duties on the untitled 2018 Han Solo project.
Kasdan, who co-wrote 1980’s The Empire Strikes Back and 1983’s Return of the Jedi has been attached to Disney’s revival of the Star Wars franchise since early 2013, initially signing on to write and produce one of the studio’s spin-off properties before teaming with director J.J. Abrams to replace Michael Arndt as screenwriter for what was then called Star Wars: Episode VII in October of that year.
Abrams has praised Kasdan as a collaborator on The Force Awakens, recently describing the experience as being like “taking an extended master class” in filmmaking.Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the Untitled Anthology film will center on a young Han Solo (and likely Boba Fett), set to arrive in theaters May 25, 2018.Boba Fett Han Solo Star Wars photo
