Reynolds reassured the Comic-Con crowds that the new film would correct the horrible portrayal in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. “The mouth is not sewn shut at any point in this film,” he stressed. “I wasn’t even paid, I just insisted on that.”
“Deadpool is a hard R,” confirmed producer Simon Kinberg. “It’s graphic. Nothing is taboo. You either commit to a truly outrageous boundary-pushing kind of movie or you don’t.” Director Tim Miller added, “I felt Fight Club and Tyler Durden were good corollaries. We are in strip clubs and dive bars and crappy apartments and far away from the shiny X-Men world.”
Synopsis: Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
The film also stars Gina Carano and Ed Skrein.
Deadpool arrives in theaters on February 5, 2016.
