New ‘Deadpool’ photos released as ‘Hard R’ rating confirmed

Just ahead of Comic-Con, Fox debuted news Deadpool stills with Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with a Mouth. EW unveiled one new Deadpool image while Empire got the other, which included the first look at Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand).

In the EW interview, Reynolds declared he wanted to “kiss” the person who leaked the 2011 test footage, which is credited for sparking massive buzz for the project before Fox had even announced it. “And not just a little kiss,” he continued, “but full on the mouth, sloppy, with tongue, for two straight minutes on live television, without commercial interruption. And then I’ll buy you dinner at Red Lobster, at least, and dessert.”

Reynolds previously portrayed the character in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The film was widely panned and didn’t exactly win over fans of Deadpool from the comics who are clamoring for a hardcore film.

You either commit to a truly outrageous boundary-pushing kind of movie or you don’t.” Director Tim Miller added, “I felt Fight Club and Tyler Durden were good corollaries. We are in strip clubs and dive bars and crappy apartments and far away from the shiny X-Men world.”

Reynolds and Hildebrand star with TJ Miller, Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano and Ed Skrein.

Deadpool arrives in theaters February 12, 2016.

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
