New ‘Bond 25’ villain may be Helena Bonham Carter
With the next Bond film finally underway, rumors abound that Helena Bonham Carter is being sought to play the film’s villain. A Mirror report said she’s No. 1 on producers’ wish list, and an insider even name-dropped her competition.
“Everyone thinks Angelina Jolie is going to get the part but bosses want Helena more. At the moment they are just finalising the cast.”
The actress, 52, terrified millions as sadistic witch Bellatrix Lestrange in the final four Harry Potter films and has turned heads while threatening to cut them off as the Queen of Hearts in two Alice in Wonderland films.
The untitled new film will be Daniel Craig’s fifth and final Bond movie and will be directed by Danny Boyle.
EON’s Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, the franchise’s producers, said: “We will begin shooting Bond 25 at Pinewood Studios in December with our partners at MGM and are thrilled Universal will be our distributor.”

If the rumor proves to be true, Bond 25 would be only the third time in the franchise’s history where the film’s main antagonist was a female character (the previous two instances being From Russia With Love and The World Is Not Enough).
Bond 25 will open in a busy November, on November 9, opposite 20th Century Fox’s Death On The Nile and an Untitled Disney live-action film. It will also debut a week after Warner Bros.’ Wonder Woman 2 (November 1) and ahead of Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog (November 15), Skydance’s Terminator 6 (November 22), and Disney’s Frozen 2 (November 29).
