Netflix’s ‘Punisher’ with Jon Bernthal may arrive in November
Jon Bernthal’s Punisher may be sitting out of the upcoming team up miniseries, The Defenders, but Frank Castle will return later in 2017.
While Netflix and Marvel TV have yet to officially announce a premiere date for The Punisher series, one of the directors from the show has indicated that it is less than six months away.
Via Heroic Hollywood, Dearbhla Walsh told The Hollywood Reporter that she had traveled to the United States to helm an episode of the series. “One other time [I directed stateside] that hasn’t been aired yet, which was an episode for the new Marvel series The Punisher, which I did just before Christmas, but it’s not airing until November.”
Bernthal made his first big impression on comic fans as Shane Walsh in the first two seasons of The Walking Dead before portraying Frank Castle during the second season of Daredevil. In fact, the gritty version of Punisher was so well praised that Netflix added the standalone season.
For his solo series, Bernthal will be reunited with Daredevil‘s Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page. The other cast members include Ben Barnes, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Amber Rose Revah, Daniel Webber, Jason R. Moore, Paul Schulze, Jaime Ray Newman, and Michael Nathanson.
