Nestor Carbonell serves another term in ‘Dark Knight Rises’ as Gotham mayor
Nestor Carbonell appears to be returning to reprise his role as Mayor Anthony Garcia for “The Dark Knight Rises”.
Variety confirmed reports yesterday that Carbonell, the “Lost” actor”, is in talks and expected to return.
Mayor Garcia was featured in a few key scenes in 2008’s “The Dark Knight”, especially in the indictment of 500 mob members, as well as, leading the funeral for Commissioner Loeb and announcing Gordon as the replacement commissioner.
Carbonell, who’s widely known for his portrayal of Richard Alpert in “Lost”, recently shot the CBS drama pilot “Ringer”, which stars Sarah Michelle Gellar.
In “The Dark Knight Rises” he’ll join returning stars Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine.
The cast also includes Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Juno Temple, Josh Pence, Daniel Sunjata and, still not 100% official, Marion Cotillard.
It was reported earlier this week that Diego Klattenhoff and Burn Gorman are also slated for supporting roles.
“Rises” begins filming this summer in Pittsburgh before moving to London, Los Angeles and New York City. It opens on July 20, 2012.
