Neocon fears of Rand Paul’s ‘foreign policy views’ may bring John Bolton into the 2016 mix
In a article by Robert Costa in National Review Online yesterday, the author says Republican hawks are concerned about the ascent of Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) and his limited government and less intervention foreign policy he’s espousing.
Unnamed sources of Costa are worried, he says “Behind the scenes, they’re worried that he [Paul] has a shot at the nomination.”
Enter the uberhawk of all uberhawks—former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and Fox News mainstay, John Bolton.
Apparently Bolton would be a neutralizer to the libertarian movement in today’s Republican Party incessantly calling for an extremely robust foreign policy.
Costa reports that Bolton’s travel schedule would seem to authenticate the claims of Bolton’s move toward a presidential run.
Bolton has trips planned to Iowa and New Hampshire, the two states that traditionally have the first nominating contests and give speeches and build relationships with GOP leaders.
Has the libertarian leaning optometrist from Kentucky struck that much fear into the rank in file hawkish Republicans?
It appears so.
