National Review Institute’s Kathryn Jean Lopez discusses adoption, foster care and March For Life
National Review Institute Senior Fellows Kathryn Jean Lopez and Kevin D. Williamson were in Washington, D.C. the 2018 March for Life, and Kathryn spent some time speaking on The Brandon Jones Show about the event and speaking on the issues of adoption and foster care.
Adoption and foster care are two arenas that often get ignored by pro-life events and Lopez begins by pointing out that “We got a crisis in foster care…modern day orphans here in the United States in most of our communities that we need to thinking more about…”
With that said, once “people are aware” they are generous, kind and giving, according to the NRI panel host, adding that it’s “really beautiful.”
Local communities are evolving with the Catholic and Evangelical communities evolving in their ways to support struggling mothers, those addicted or battling legal problems. Lopez praised the panel discussion, speakers and testimonies of those at the March For Life.
Kathryn discussed National Review’s pro-life reader, featuring amazing authors, including William F. Buckley Jr., Jonah Goldberg, Kevin Williamson, which was created for guests and visitors, she says “I always want to give them something” and the “idea was to cover a wide array of life issues.”

NRI’s goal is to shine a light on where progress can be made in expanding resources, and reforming how states and the Federal government look at child welfare.
Lopez details with Brandon some of the struggles with tax reform and moves in Congress that seemingly are ignoring those who adopt or want to foster.
“Sometimes with little regulation, legislative moves they can make life easier for families,” she says, saying that the errors in omission have proven to be an “opportunity” to talk about the issue which we were not discussing.
