Their teacher had allegedly punished the pair for mischief in class.

Identified as Nancy Thakur and Sakshi Thakur, both 11 years old, were found dead in a pool of a blood at Navbahar-Sanjauli road around 3.30pm on Monday. They were taken to Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital for treatment around 4.30pm but after a while were declared dead by the doctors. (as detailed by The Times)

Authorities ruled out foul play and are evaluationg a suicide angle, claimed the Indian Express.

“On the basis of the postmortem report, we are ruling out a hit-and-run case. The girls sustained injuries after falling from the hill side. We will investigate if it was an accident,” said SP Chander Shekhar Pandit.

“The injuries showed that fall from a height could be the reason behind the girls’ death. We have ruled out the hit-and-run, foul play, molestation and abuse angles. However, it will be confirmed only after the FSL report that is likely to come within a week.”

He said, “The girls had been given punishment by one of their teachers. We rule out the suicide angle as the two had spent some light moments on the hillock. They had cold drinks and some snacks there.”

“The postmortem report has revealed that they had some fried rice prior to the accident, probably eaten in a restaurant in Navbahar after the school hours,” he said.
The police are working on various possibilities, including why the girls had gone on the hillock and if they were frequent visitors to the place.

Its going to be 2 complete years and the police has yet not reached any conclusion. And as far as i know this is a planned murder and not a case or hit and run or a fall from the hillock. I feel so ashamed to be a citizen of a country where justice is only a word left behind in the texts.
