Murray Energy’s Robert Murray calls global warming a hoax, Scott Pruitt set for EPA
Murray Energy Chairman and CEO Robert Murray on Friday claimed global warming is a hoax as President Trump signed a measure on Thursday to lift restrictions on coal mining near waterways. Murray references 4,000 scientists who have told him so.
While speaking on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” to discuss Republicans’ rollback of an Obama-era rule, Murray was discussing the economic analysis behind President Obama’s energy regulations.
“There’s no scientific analysis either. I have 4,000 scientists that tell me global warming is a hoax. The Earth has cooled for 20 years.”
Murray never mentioned names or clarified his remarks.
A spokesperson for Murray Energy sent links to the Manhattan Declaration on Climate Change, which says “human-caused climate change is not a global crisis,” and the Global Warming Petition Project, a list of science degree holders who don’t think humans cause climate change.
The “last-minute Obama administration rule” was under attack by the GOP, seeking to undo all of the moves from June until the end of the year.
CNN noted Thursday: “Trump’s move Thursday may be just be the beginning of undoing some environmental protections. A source close to the administration tells CNN that soon after Scott Pruitt is sworn in as administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, the President will take executive action directing Pruitt to make good on campaign promises related to climate change policy and regulations. This source says the timing for exactly when the President will act and how many executive orders there may be is still being worked out.”
NASA and NOAA have stated “”The planet’s average surface temperature has risen about 2.0 degrees Fahrenheit (1.1 degrees Celsius) since the late 19th century, a change driven largely by increased carbon dioxide and other human-made emissions into the atmosphere.”
Critics point out that there is usually conflicting data, manipulated date or new questions about the science surrounding the reports, even the most recent one — manipulated ahead of the key international meetings. Read more HERE
Murray Energy is the country’s largest coal miner, with many of its mines in Appalachia, a region that would suffer some of the biggest impacts of the rule.
Oklahoma AG Scott Pruitt was confirmed to head the EPA on Friday largely party line vote was 52-46.
It is enlightening the read the totally void list of publications on the subject by Murray. Clearly, it’s total absence makes for a very quick read, in fact one might say, you, who reads this, has already read it from A to Z. So where Mr. M gets the gall for his proclamation is a mystery, as much as AGW is no mystery to most people with an advanced science degree.
