MST3K, Rifftrax ‘Anaconda’ is truly hysterical, don’t miss encore Nov 4
While November 4 will be labeled election day (and yes, that is important) it is also the encore presentation of Rifftrax Anaconda, a hysterical evening of the team from Mystery Science Theater 3000 ripping Jennifer Lopez, Jon Voight, Ice Cube and company in the horrific creature film from 1997.
Michael J Nelson, Bill Corbett and Kevin Murphy roasts the cast, the lame special effects, Jon Voight’s face expressions, the cheasy dialogue, Jon Voight’s horrible accent, pathetic efforts at suspense and oh yeah, Jon Voight.
Fans of MST3K will love everyting from the pre-show slideshow to the preview of upcoming events, all the way through to the closing gags. Sure, Mike and Servo are not going back and forth, but the jokes are great.
Like other Fathom Events, this is such a great venue to enjoy fan favorites or live performances around the globe. This success has fueled enough success for even more Rifftrax (1959’s Santa Claus is coming in December).
Weird Al songs before the show, Eric Stoltz jabs, Owen Wilson impersonations, a Snakes on a Plane joke that made me cry, obligatory J Lo butt jokes and did I mention they scour Jon Voight. The only complaint is that the laughter drowns out the next joke. There aren’t any real downtime or chances for a bathroom break, so plan ahead.
Overall RiffTrax Anaconda receives 4 1/2 stars out of 5
