‘Mission Impossible 5’ Tom Cruise arriving in theaters on Christmas 2015 to battle ‘Kung Fu Panda 3’
The Mission Imporssible franchise will send up another Ethan Hunt adventure in the busy 2015 movie season.
Box Office Mojo confirmed that date as Christmas Day, 2015 for a big opening, just one week after Star Wars Episode VII.
The film will also be competing against kid’s film Kung Fu Panda 3 which is scheduled to open two days earlier. The Ben Affleck crime drama, Live By Night, is also scheduled to open.
Disney’s confirmation of the Star Wars release changes the dynamics of the holiday week for movies, so some reshuffling may be coming.
Directed by Christopher McQuarrie and starring Tom Cruise, the film will become the latest addition to 2015’s seemingly endless barrage of blockbusters.
McQuarrie, who won an Oscar in 1996 for his screenplay The Usual Suspects, worked with Cruise on last year’s Jack Reacher.
Iron Man 3 writer Drew Pearce was already brought in to write the film and Cruise signed on back in May.
Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol – the fourth movie in the action series – has grossed almost $700 million (£450 million) worldwide since opening in December 2011.
Just to stated it clearly: Mission Impossible 5 will arrive in theaters Christmas Day, 2015
