Missing man Scott Hoffman identified as body found near the Beaver River
From Pennsylvania, the body of a missing Economy man, Scott Hoffman, has been identified as the body found Monday in a wooded area near the Beaver River.
Hoffman, 40, has been missing since last week, reported by his family, according to police. The body was discover noon
Monday by a bicyclist riding on a side street near a set of railroad tracks. Officials were called to the area. This area is not far from the New Brighton sewage treatment facility.
Hoffman was said to have been last seen June 22 near the Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe in New Brighton. The family reported to the public that the man had several medical issues, needed his medication and had a broken left foot.
Officers from the New Brighton Area and Economy police departments, as well as officials from the county coroner’s and district attorney’s offices, removed Hoffman’s body.
Coroner David Gabauer confirmed the man’s identity Monday afternoon.
The cause and manner of Hoffman’s death are under investigation.
