Missing Alabama man, Michael Matthew, identified as decomposed body found in trunk of car
The decomposed body found in the truck of a car in Alabama has been identified as a man who has been missing for weeks. Birmingham Police say the body is Michael Steven Matthew, missing since April 9.
Matthew, 47, was last seen at his apartment in the 1100 block of Pebble Creek Parkway in early April. A missing person’s report was filed April 9. During the search, Lt. Pete Williston reported that Matthew was diabetic and did not have his medication with him.
Matthew’s death has been ruled a homicide with an investigation underway. No cause of death was released at this time.
The body was found after a call reporting a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot. Upon checking the tag, on the vehicle, the officer discovered it belonged to the victim. Matthew was found dead in the trunk of the vehicle.
Matthew’s family lives in New York. Authorities confirmed with The Dispatch that he was identified using dental records.

Matthew drives a 2010 white Dodge Avenger with the tag number 1CV2816. He is known to visit the Atlanta and Montgomery areas as well.
Matthew is a black male, 5-feet, 7-inches and weighs 180 pounds. He has brown eyes and is bald.
