Miss Philippines Queenierich Rehman wows crowd with beatbox skills at Miss World 2012
The crowd at the Ordos Theater, Inner Mongolia, China saw something unique and unconventional last week during the talent portion of the Miss World 2012 competition–the “mad beatboxing skills” of Miss Philippines Queenierich Rehman.
Certainly the first of its kind in the pageant’s history, Queenie made crowd go wild as she took on hits by Justin Timberlake, Timbaland and Usher.
The 23-year-old Filipina-Pakistani beauty started out her performance with a relaxed, gentle sound only to later rock the crowd with beatbox and some hip-hop beats.
Where did the Assumption College graduate learn these skills?
According to a quote on Miss World.com, “The first time I heard Justin Timberlake beatbox in hismusic video, Rock Your Body in 2003, I was so amazed and thrilled to learn it. Finally, I recorded it in my phone and listened to it over and over again until I learned the basics. From then on, my beatboxing skills developed as I watched tutorials online, the rest was history.”
‘”That was the most original act I have ever seen”,’ the MC of the show announced after her performance.
That unique and original performance landed Queenie in the Top 5 Talent finals joined by Miss China, Miss Panama, Miss Norway, and Miss Jamaica.
The crowning of Miss World 2012 will be held on August 18, 2012, also in Ordos, China.
