Milpitas, CA: Nathaniel Manlangit arrested for killing man with a baseball bat at a Sports Authority
Getting in a heated exchange with someone at a store where baseball bats are sold can turn out very bad, particularly for one unidentified man in the Silicon Valley city of Milpitas, California.
While at the Sports Authority at the Great Mall in Milpitas Friday morning, a fight broke out between two men, which resulted in one death.
Police arrested Nathaniel Manlangit, 26, of suspicion of murder after an altercation broke out between Manlangit and the currently unnamed victim.
According to the Mercury News report, Manlangit picked up a baseball bat from a store shelf, then struck the other man several times, police said. The killing does not appear to be gang-related, and investigators believe Manlangit is the only suspect in the slaying, police said.
This is only the first murder in the city of approximately 70,000 in 2013; however, it is the third killing at the Great Mall in the past five years.
Manlangit was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on murder charges.
