Tampa Bay Comic Con is slated for February 20 and will host some amazingly talented comic book creators. Among them will be Mike Perkins, the artist adapting Stephen King’s famous novel “The Stand” for Marvel Comics.
The series “The Stand: Captain Trips” brought the King classic to comic book stands everywhere highlighting a long history of work on Marvel titles such as: “Captain America”, “Union Jack”, “Annihilation Conquest”, “House of M: Avengers” as well as the classic Marvel titles: “Spider-Man”, “Fantastic Four” and “X-Men”.
Ten years ago Perkins worked on some crossover projects fusing the DC Comics Universe with those at Dark Horse Comics: “Superman vs. The Terminator” and “Green Lantern vs. Aliens”.
Most interesting, in contrast to many of his fellow creators, is that Mike Perkins has a passion to pass on his knowledge to others. He wrote a chapter on inking for Andy Schmidt’s book – “The Insider’s Guide to Creating Comics and Graphic Novels” and offers several more bits of advice on his blog.
