Michaela McManus Joins the Cast of TV Action Drama, ‘The Last Ship’

TNT orders action drama with mega-producer Michael Bay. Bay’s new TNT action drama, “The Last Ship,” which is based on the ever so popular ’88 novel by William Brinkley, is set to debut sometime 2013. “Last Ship” features a post-apocalyptic world in which members from a naval destroyer find themselves as some of the last people on the planet.
Who’s better an actor to play the badass, Lt. Jackie Makena, who runs the Combat Information Center and in charge of missile deployment, than Michaela McManus. She is a talented actress with impressive film and television credits.
McManus is an American actress who is best known for her reoccurring roles in “One Tree Hill” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” Over the course of her career, she has played a jealous ex-fiancée, an assistant district attorney and a werewolf, to name a few. She has starred in a bunch of short films, including “Cosa Bella,” “You Don’t Have to Love Me” and “About Fifty.”
“The Last Ship” has amasses an amazing cast and crew so far. Michael Bay will produce the show, who’s most famously known for his “Transformers” series.
The show is written by “Without a Trace” creator Hank Steinberg. Steven Kane will take the role of producer, who recently worked on “The Closer.” Casting has just started, according to Deadline.
Here’s a little sneak at the character cast (excluding Lt. Jackie Makena, who we talked about above):
- Eric Dane: He will play Captain Tom Chandler, the captain of the USS James. Chandler gets word from his family that they’re still alive, but there are militias everywhere jeopardizing their lives. It’s up to him to figure out how to save the last humanity. Dane became a household sensation for playing Dr. Mark “McSteamy” Sloan on the medical drama television series “Grey’s Anatomy.” He was also in the films “Marley & Me,” “Valentine’s Day” and “Burlesque.”
- Adam Baldwin: He will play the character of Mike Slattery, second in command to Captain Tom Chandler. Baldwin is most known for his role in “Independence Day” as well as several TV series including “Leverage,” “Castle” and “Chuck.”
- Charles Parnell: He will be playing the role of Commander Master Chief Hugh Jeter aboard the Nathan James. CMC Jeter runs a tight ship and even threatens to shoot a sailor who attempts to leave the ship without permission, according to i09.com.
- Travis Van Winkle: He will be playing Danny Green, who’s the leader of a small group of Navy SEALS aboard the ship. Van Winkle worked in both the TV and movie industry and has made appearances on “Friday the 13th,” Michael Bay’s Transformer series, “Asylum,” Law & Order,” “Two and a Half Men,” and “7th Heaven.”
- Christina Elmore: She plays Lt. Alisha Granderson. Lt. Granderson co-steers the ship and is an emotional wreck. Elmore will make her television debut with this series. She is a stage actress from San Francisco’s American Conservatory Theater.
- Sam Spruell: He will play the character of Quincy Tophet, a paleomicrobiologist who’s the assistant of Rachel Scott. He helps her dig for ice samples in hopes to find a cure for the mutating virus.
- Rhona Mitra: She will play Rachel Scott, the strong-willed and fearless paleomicrobioligist. Mitra is an English actress with tons of silver screen experience, staring in “Doomsday,” “Shooter” and “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans.” Her TV list is just as impressive: “Nip/Tuck,” “Boston Legal” and “The Practice.”Men lower the body of Aaron Smadja, one of the three Israelis killed by a rocket fired from Gaza, during his funeral at a cemetery in the southern city of Kiryat Malachi November 15, 2012.
