Michael Fassbender resurrected in new ‘Assassin’s Creed’ trailer
While studios are packing video game adaptations into the theaters with The Angry Birds Movie and Warcraft films, it’s Assassin’s Creed that has most fans excited.
Now a new international trailer for Assassin’s Creed just landed and this footage focuses on Michael Fassbender and his character, Callum Lynch. Lynch discovers he’s a descendent of a mysterious secret society, the Assassins. He then gathers the knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization. This is accomplished through a breakthrough technology that unlocks his genetic memories.
Lynch experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain, during the Spanish Inquisition. The movie shares similarities to the games, but is a new story with new characters.
Here is what head of the Assassin’s Creed franchise Aymar Azaizia had to say about it last year.
“We share the same universe. Elements in the film have consequences as in our games, comics, and books. It’s a brand new story, w/ new characters set in our universe. It’s possible you may find some familiar faces.”
Fassbender stars with Marion Cotillard and Jeremy Irons coming out just a week after Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in December.
Assassin’s Creed is set to arrive in theaters on December 21, 2016.
