Miami-Dade police arrest Jesus Lopez Rodriguez for illegally practicing dentistry
An anonymous tip to the Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers led to the arrest of a Miami man who illegally practiced dentistry out of his house without a license.
Jesus Lopez Rodriguez was arrested for the unlicensed practice of dentistry, a third-degree felony, after a joint investigation between police and Florida health officials, according to a Florida DoH news release Wednesday.
Rodriguez was charging $50 for a teeth cleaning, which he referred to as a “car wash” according to the investigation.
In addition, it is alleged Rodriguez sexually assaulting females as they sought treatment from him.
The bust of Rodriguez uncovered numerous dental equipment to include a dental chair, controlled substances, an patient appointment book and dental tools.
“We do not tolerate the unlicensed practice of dentistry in Florida,” said State Surgeon General and Secretary of Health Dr. John Armstrong. “The Department is committed to protecting the people of Florida and preventing harm inflicted by imposters.”
Rodriguez has been charged and will move through the criminal justice process accordingly.
