Memphis, Tennessee: The ‘hot spot’ city for Chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis

A new infographic from BestMedicalDegress.com, the STD Heat Map, based on data from 2010 and 2012 Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) studies looks at what parts of the country are the “Hot Spots” for the sexually transmitted infections, chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis and AIDS.
What the data shows is states in the Southeast–Mississippi, Louisiana and Georgia for example are some of the states with the highest rates of the STDs per 100,000 people.

One metropolitan area, Memphis, Tennessee, stands out as the number one metro area for chlamydia (955.1 people per 100,000), gonorrhea (313.1 people per 100,000) and syphilis (12.6 people per 100,000).

AIDS is big in the three states in the Northeast, Maryland, New York and New Jersey having three of the five highest rates per 100,000 people. Miami was the metropolitan area with the highest rates of AIDS (865.5 people per 100,000).
