Mel Gibson, Antonio Banderas confirmed to be joining Harrison Ford in ‘The Expendables 3’
While Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone can squabble over a deal to keep the Die Hard star in the third Expendables film, Stallone and company will indeed be joined by Mel Gibson and Antonio Banderas.
Gibson will reportedly star as the villain in with Banderas, there’s no word yet on his Expendables 3 part.
Stallone tweeted back in July:
Mad Max vs Barney Ross……
“He is a consummate actor and a gentleman,” Stallone said of Banderas in a statement which confirms both the Zorro and Mad Max stars.
The most recent addition was Harrison Ford, announced via twitter as well after the Willis deal fell through.
Willis was offered $3 million for four days of consecutive work on location in Bulgaria for the film. “He said he’d drop out unless he got $4 million,” this source close to the production says. “A million dollars a day. Stallone and everybody else involved said no.” (Source)
Expendables 3 will be directed by Red Hill’s Patrick Hughes, with a script co-written by Stallone. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Wesley Snipes and Jackie Chan are all set to appear. The franchise has proved to have commercial muscle, with a combined take of $586m at the worldwide box-office for the first two films.
The Expendables 3 will comes to theaters August 15, 2014.
