MegaCon 2017: ‘The Flash’ stars Tom Cavanagh, Danielle Panabaker talk Wells, directing, pranks, comics
Among the amazing list of great guests at this year’s MegaCon were stars from The CW hit show, The Flash.
Ahead of the panel for fans, Tom Cavanagh answered for us the big question following the complex series of the different Wells in season 3 and earlier: “What was it like playing so many different versions of the same character?”
“I love it, you know. There’s not many opportunities like this show where you can take a character in so many different directions,” Cavanagh explained to the Dispatch. “I just think it’s wonderful. I really love how Wells can’t stand H.R. That was one of my favorite things.”
Joining Cavanagh at the MegaCon panel was Danielle Panabaker who plays Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost. The actress began by encouraging others interested in acting: “All I can say is go! If you have a passion, follow it.”
Cavanagh moved behind the camera, directing a Flash episode, told “As far as a director, I would say when you see something and want to focus on it, then point the camera and make it happen.”
Later he was asked about returning to direct more episodes and he said that “All I can say is yes because there are many Warner Bros snipers watching, but the short answer is ‘yes.'”
Panabaker reflected on researching the character, confessing that she’s “new to this comic book thing, but did my research, especially with Killer Frost. Like, when I was looking at her costume, I saw she has had boots and I was like ‘I need boots.'”
“I just do it,” Cavanagh said on finding his role, reflecting on big season one speeches and powerful encouragement from Wells. “I just read the script. I figure out the emotion and sound behind it and make it happen. Each Wells is different and I read and channel that specific dynamic.”
The duo was asked about pranks and bloopers and Cavanagh is confirmed to share several “Rated R” and “dark and funny” moments with Grant.
