Production designer Nathan Crowley has given away a few details to EW of info on some of the key plot themes. According to Crowley, Christopher Nolan first brought him on board by asking, “Do you want to do a movie about black holes, relativity, gravity, and their effect on time?”
The new image published by EW shows star Matthew McConaughey tinkering with what looks like some sort of model spacecraft, possibly an old lunor module, watched by his children, one is the young Murph (played by Mackenzie Foy).
Crowley is quick to stress the importance of the more intimate aspects of the plot. “Ultimately,” he says, “it’s this very human story about a father and daughter.”
The official synopsis notes: “A group of explorers make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.”
Co-starring Jessica Chastain, Michael Caine, Anne Hathaway, Casey Affleck, Bill Irwin, Ellen Burstyn, John Lithgow, Wes Bentley, Mackenzie Foy, Timothee Chalamet, Topher Grace, David Oyelowo and Matt Damon, Interstellar opens on November 7th.
