Matt Damon takes center stage for ‘Jason Bourne’ on new Total Film magazines
The latest issue of Total Film magazine put Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne center stage, right on the cover, as part their summer movie coverage.
Universal reunited Damon with director Paul Greengrass to rejuvenate the franchise after a subpar showing with Bourne Legacy, focusing on Jeremy Renner’s Aaron Cross. Damon will also be surrounded by big names like Alicia Vikander, Vincent Cassel, Scott Shepherd, Tommy Lee Jones and Julia Stiles.
Nightcrawler star Riz Ahmed has also been cast in the fifth Bourne film, praising the “vibe on set” as “Very generous, very engaging, very interested, humble, and that just trickles down onto set. So, no matter what kind of madness is happening or how much you’re running to try and make the day, it’s just a good vibe on set.”
Ahmed plays a CIA tech specialist, and he says witnessing Damon’s “genius” abilities made for an inspiring atmosphere all around.
“That’s something I really learned from it. I think often we elevate this idea of the tortured genius, but I think [Damon and Greengrass are] geniuses at what they do, and they’re not torturing anyone, from what I can see. Maybe they go home and cry every night, but they were just spreading good vibes, so that was good to see.”
Greengrass helmed The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum. The film is currently set to be released on July 29th, the date which was originally held by the Jeremy Renner led Bourne Legacy follow-up.
