‘Mary Poppins’ performance to benefit Tampa’s UACDC
DeArmon C.A.S.T. presents the beloved classic tale of Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins at the University Area Community Center on May 5-14.
All proceeds to the 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 11 performance will benefit the nonprofit University Area Community Development Center’s (CDC) Get Moving! summer youth soccer league and the FC Tampa Rangers. Tickets to this special performance will be sold on a “pay what you can” basis at the door, at the University Area Community Center at 14013 N. 22nd St., Tampa, 33613.
“These fundraisers are taking partnerships and residencies to a new level,” says Wendy Leigh, University Area CDC chief marketing and development officer. “By combining forces with our constituents the Rangers, C.A.S.T. and the University Area CDC, it’s a win, win, win. Everyone learns about each other’s programs and the synergies will be super. Both are longtime constituents and this is a great opportunity for us all to be together for a fun night and a great cause. It just deepens our relationships.”
DeArmon C.A.S.T., a Lutz performing arts school, is offering the “pay what you can” performance due to its partnership with the University Area CDC. This new immersive partnerships makes sense, providing an authentic experience as a true partner. C.A.S.T. has been presenting plays in the community center for 13 years; this is the first year that it has been a more integrated experience.
