MARVEL MOVIE NEWS: Black Widow trailer, GOTG 3 details

Just a look ahead a the new several Marvel films which have updates, rumors or news: Guardians of the Galaxy 3 rumors, Black Widow trailer and Kevin Feige talking The Eternals.

Guardians of the Galaxy 3

Some rumors, and JUST RUMORS, come via 4Chan and Reddit, some sources were correct in the past.

GOTG 3 set after Thor: Love and Thunder

The film will be released July, 28, 2023 and take place place after Thor: Love and Thunder, which implies that the “Asguardians of the Galaxy” as seen at the end of Avengers: Endgame, will come to an end and likely set up this film.

Other details via Cosmic Movie News:

Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) and the Guardians face the High Evolutionary, who is the creator of Rocket and Lylla (Rocket’s sapient otter soulmate).

Drax (Dave Bautista) adopts a surrogate daughter, Cammi. Mantis (Pom Klementieff) gets jealous at first but Cammi and Mantis form a bond (Cammi is from the Drax comic book that preceded the Annihilation event comic).

The 2014 Gamora (Zoe Saldana) changes her personality more to the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Infinity War Gamora following the death of Nebula (Karen Gillan) who sacrifices herself.

Quill’s Zune music includes hits from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s…

Ayesha creates Adam Warlock to destroy the Guardians but he rebels against the Sovereigns; Warlock helps the Guardians in the third act.

James Gunn has talked to Peter Davidson and John Cena about making cameos after becoming close on the set with them while filming DC’s The Suicide Squad.

Lucas Till (known for playing Havok in X-Men) is wanted for Adam Warlock, Stranger Things and Godzilla actress Millie Bobby Brown for Cammi, Liam Neeson for The High Evolutionary, and an Oscar-nominated actress for the voice of Lylla possibly Lady Gaga, Helena Bonham Carter, Sandra Bullock, Charlize Theron, or Demi Moore.

Here’s what sounds true and false…more importantly, why:

Lylla is a perfect addition: love interest for Rocket, laughs and new merch sales for Disney.  VERY LIKELY

Drax getting daughter, Cammi and creating a bridge to form a stronger bond with Mantis: another VERY LIKELY situation which pushes characters forward, adds some romance outside of the Quill-Gamora relationship and could set up the BIG Annihilation event.

The alternate rumor is:

Drax doesn’t adopt a girl, he finds his DAUGHTER during their quest to find Gamora, and the two share a strange relationship through the movie. Cammaria reveals that her mother was human and lived on Earth, and her given name was Cammi Douglas. She looks human but doesn’t have any facial hair.

Nebula attempts to sacrifice herself in the third act, but instead Groot(who apparently grows “beyond twice his original size”) decides to do it instead and keeps the Guardians away. Nebula does leave the GotG after this encounter, much to Quill’s chagrin(the two form a friendship like stated above during the movie).

This part I cannot confirm as true. I know for a fact Adam is in the film, but have no idea what his role is or who he’s played by in the film. Instead of the soul stone, he is powered by an Anulax battery, which appears possesses absorption powers.

Rocket does take off like this says, specifically for Tonnsberg(Thor’s town) without any of Groot with him, but what’s surprising is that Drax, Gamora, And Warlock do too. Quill, Mantis, Cammi, and Lylla remain as the GotG, who go out to recruit more members for their squad. The only one we see onscreen is an unknown Nova Corps member, presumably Richard, but he doesn’t speak nor show his face at the end.

MCS and ECS are correct as far as I know. Stakar Ogord and the Starjammers(Charlie-27, Krugarr, etc.) help Quill find Gamora and join them during the final act. Kraglin is not the film, based on my knowledge, but Cosmo the Space Dog is when they head back to Knowhere(yup) for a lead. He sneaks onboard their shuttle and while he isn’t present for the third act, he does guide the heroes to their goal and just sort of disappears from the story right before the third act.

The Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) music would certain move forward with some newer music, so PROBABLY.

Adam Warlock is 100% CERTAIN, A LOCK for GOTG 3, set up in a credit scene and essential for a new phase of cosmic marvel films/characters.

Gillan praised the script, of course: “I can say that I’ve read it and it’s amazing. We’re all really excited that James is back to complete the trilogy because it wouldn’t have felt right without him. It’s a wonderful, wonderful script.”

Black Widow

The first trailer is here.

The Avengers’ main storyline may have come to an end in Avengers: Endgame, but the first trailer for Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow is a reminder that Marvel Studios can carry on with the original cast.

Black Widow is the highly anticipated stand-alone movie focusing on Natasha Romanoff’s blood-stained past.

The movie takes place in the two year gap between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. The timeless explains how Marvel will even do a Black Widow movie in the first place, considering Romanoff sacrifices herself to ensure the Avengers can secure the Soul Stone in an effort to take down Thanos.

The trailer focuses on Romanoff’s trip to Budapest, a location that Clint Barton/Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) referenced multiple times in various Avengers movies, including Endgame. This trailer contains an impressive scene between Romanoff and a woman named Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh). Belova becomes the second Black Widow in the comics series, and is referred to as Romanoff’s sister in the trailer.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige says that “there are ways to do prequels that are less informative or answer questions you didn’t necessarily have, and then there are ways to do prequels where you learn all sorts of things you never knew before.” Feige likens the project to the Breaking Bad prequel series Better Call Saul, saying: “I look at Better Call Saul as a wonderful example of a prequel that almost completely stands on its own apart from Breaking Bad because it informs you about so many things you didn’t know about before.”

Check out the footage below.

Fans get  look at Rachel Weisz, and David Harbour, the Red Guaridan, as well as William Hurt’s “Thunderbolt” Ross, who has had a first appearances over the years.

Black Widow will mark the beginning of Marvel Studios’ Phase 4 when it’s released on May 1st, 2020.

The Eternals

While Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe begins next May with Black Widow, but it will certainly not kick off the new themes for future films until November when The Eternals hits theaters.

The Eternals follows around a group of completely new and unfamiliar characters that are unlike anything we have seen in the MCU before. That’s partially why Marvel Studios President and Marvel CCO Kevin Feige calls The Eternals a big and expensive risk.

“It is a very big movie. It is a very expensive movie. And we are making it because we believe in [Zhao’s] vision and we believe in what those characters can do and we believe we need to continue to grow and evolve and change and push our genre forward. That’s a risk if I’ve ever heard one.”

The Eternals are new characters that are completely unproven in this universe and on the big screen. General audiences have probably never even heard of them. That said, what’s been Marvel’s big misses? Iron Man 3? The Ant-Man films?

Gotta go with Feige and the studio until proven otherwise.

The Eternals, directed by The Rider’s Chloe Zhao, will star Angelina Jolie as Thena, along with Richard Madden (Icarus), Kumail Nanjiani (Kingo), Lauren Ridloff (Makkari), Brian Tyree Henry (Phastos), Salma Hayek (Ajak), Lia McHugh (Sprite), and Don Lee (Gilgamesh).
