Marvel hires Roel Reine to direct first two episodes of ‘Inhumans’ TV show
Marvel moves ahead with their new TV show, The Inhumans, NOT a spin-off from Agents of SHIELD, by announcing Roel Reine will be showrunner, in charge of the first two episodes.
Reine is a Netherlands filmmaker, known for his work on The Delivery and a film titled Admiral. This landed Reine chance to work with Michael Bay or STARZ’s Black Sails
Marvel’s The Inhumans will premiere a version of the first two episodes first in IMAX commercial theatres, marking the first time a live-action television series has debuted in this manner. The series, produced in conjunction with ABC Studios and filmed entirely with IMAX digital cameras, will run worldwide exclusively in IMAX for two weeks at the beginning of September 2017.
ABC plans to then premiere the weekly series in fall, with some exclusive content that can only be seen on the network.
This is not a S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off (not directly, anyway), nor is it the planned Inhumans movie that Marvel pulled from its schedule, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This will be a separate group of Inhumans in their own storyline.
Official synopsis from Marvel: The Inhumans, a race of superhumans with diverse and singularly unique powers, were first introduced in Marvel Comics by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1965. Since that time, they have grown in prominence and become some of the most popular and iconic characters in the Marvel Universe. Marvel’s The Inhumans will explore the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family.
