Late Saturday, Marsha Lanza, Adam’s Aunt, spoke briefly to some press.
“I mean it’s heartbreaking to know it’s in your own family and you say ‘Well it will never happen to me’. But it has,” she told reporters outside her Illinois home.
The woman confirmed Adam was homeschooled by his late mother Nancy, but was unclear of the reason: “behavior, if it was learning disabilities, I really don’t know, but he was a very, very bright boy. He was smart.”
Nancy’s sister-in-law told the Northwest Herald that “This whole thing is mind-boggling. We’re shaken to the core.”…
She told The Associated Press that her nephew was raised by kind, nurturing parents who would not have hesitated to seek mental help for him if he needed it.
Marsha Lanza described Nancy Lanza as a good mother and kindhearted.
The gunman’s aunt Marsha Lanza said her “bright” nephew was raised by kind, nurturing parents who would not have hesitated to seek mental help for him if he needed it.

Near the school, Connecticut’s Chief Medical Examiner, Dr. H. Wayne Carver II, spoke about the victims. The 20 children were aged between 6 and 7 years old. Twelve were girls and eight were boys. All appeared to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds from the rifle recovered at the scene, Dr Carver said.
