Mark Ruffalo talks Hulk, returning for ‘Avengers 2’ and tells fans not to panic over casting rumors
Mark Ruffalo discussed recent rumors about The Avengers 2 and its cast. It was reported last week that Marvel Studios was struggling to secure some members of The Avengers‘ ensemble cast for Joss Whedon’s sequel.
These reports led some to speculate that key roles could be recast, if the studio and any of its actors were unable to negotiate a deal. Ruffalo was asked about this speculation.
“I haven’t caught wind of any of that,” Ruffalo told Moviefone. “I was surprised to hear it, because I don’t even think anyone’s really started negotiating yet.”
Ruffalo says fans shouldn’t panic. “No. Maybe people should panic, but I don’t see a reason to panic.”
He also confirmed that he is contracted to appear as Bruce Banner/The Hulk in a total of six Marvel movies, with the first of these appearances being The Avengers.
“I haven’t been let go yet…I’d love to come back as The Hulk. I don’t foresee not coming back as The Hulk.”
Samuel L Jackson has said that he is not yet sure whether he will return for The Avengers 2.
The Avengers 2 will film in the UK in February next year, with a release date set for May 1, 2015.
