Mark Harrington, Created Equal organizes OperationRNC rallies to call for defunding of Planned Parenthood

Pro-life coalition leader Mark Harrington, Executive Director of Created Equal, is urging the Republican National Convention to defund Planned Parenthood in its 2016 platform.  In the days leading up to the July national gathering of the GOP in Cleveland, Ohio, Created Equal will present #OperationRNC. This initiative will request that the $540 million currently given to Planned Parenthood be redirected to 13,000 federally licensed health clinics which provide true comprehensive women’s health care.

A series of demonstrations in front of Planned Parenthood clinics will introduce #OperationRNC to the Ohio metropolises of Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton and Toledo.  In Cleveland, a press conference precedes a rally at the Quicken Loans Arena. The purpose, according to Harrington, is to ensure that the pro-life message is heard by the Republican National Convention’s Platform Committee. #OperationRNC is expected to reach over 50,000 attendees at the convention, as well as the city of Cleveland and the nation.

Harrington stated that the GOP nominee and the Republican Party cannot expect success at the ballot box in November’s General Election without the support of the pro-life community. “Making the bold move to defund Planned Parenthood in the party platform is a positive first step in ensuring that the GOP continues to be a pro-life party,” he added.

The message is specifically targeted to those charged with setting the Republican Party platform going into the Presidential election.  #OperationRNC intends to leverage the power of a trio of stalwart conservatives on the platform committee: Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming, Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin and Representative Virginia Foxx of North Carolina.

Harrington explained the reasoning behind #OperationRNC, “This coalition of pro-life groups and activists is taking advantage of this historic opportunity to collectively raise our voices for the preborn. We demand that the Republican party continue to defend the preborn.”

The coalition of groups partnering with Created Equal includes Cincinnati Right to Life, Cleveland Right to Life, Dayton Right to Life, Ohio Christian Alliance and Foundation for Life.
