Mark Gatiss talks ‘Game of Thrones’ season 4 role, Tycho Nestoris, no ‘Sherlock’ season 4 talk
One of the biggest franchise is Game of Thrones, which heads into the fourth season and Sherlock star Mark Gatiss discussed his role in a Feb. 24 interview with Metro.
“I felt a bit overwhelmed by the response,” Gatiss says of playing Tycho Nestoris.
“When it was announced, people bombarded me with questions. I felt a bit of a fraud. Apparently, my character in the books actually comes in a lot later so it was a bit unusual that they brought it forward.”
Gatiss jokes about the fate of Tycho, but says he could survive season 4.
“Apparently so! I’m expecting an almost inevitably violent death. I’m in one episode. I went over to Belfast and did the scene there.”
He’s mum on details, but joked about roles on the Doctor Who, Sherlock and now Thrones.
“It’s an elaborate Venn diagram for my retirement.”
Nestoris has featured in A Dance with Dragons and The Winds of Winter, the fifth and sixth novels of George R.R. Martin’s fantasy series.
Described in the books as tall, gaunt and having a long beard, he travels to Westeros to negotiate with Stannis Baratheon repayment of a debt owed by the Iron Throne
