‘Manhattan’ season 2 set for October return, new photos released

WGN America’s drama, Manhattan, centering on the team creating the atomic bomb, has been confirmed to be returning for their second season this October. The station also released the first batch of photos to hype the new season.

Deadline summarized the news, as “The sophomore session of Manhattan, which was ordered in October, will bow Tuesday, October 13, at 9 PM. The network also released the first images of the upcoming episodes, which will focus on the events leading up to Trinity test: the first detonation of an atomic weapon, which happened 70 years ago this week.”

manhattan-season-2-cast photoManhattan follows the team of America’s brightest uniting on “The Hill” at Los Alamos in the desert of New Mexico during the tensions of World War II. Frank Winter (John Benjamin Hickey), is a brilliant scientist who heads a team creating the A-bomb, but struggling with the implications of its use.

“Meanwhile, his botanist wife (Olivia Williams) battles with the top-secret compound’s new commanding officer (William Petersen) as a young couple (Ashley Zukerman and Rachel Brosnahan) embraces and struggles with their unexpected new power on the Hill,” Deadline added.

The new season 2 trailer focused on the “keeping of secrets,” offering up a montage of the cast being asked difficult and revealing questions. Check it out here.

Manhattan also stars Harry Lloyd, Katja Herbers, Christopher Denham, Michael Chernus, Daniel Stern, Mamie Gummer and Griffin Dunne.
