Magomedkamil Gamzatov, Imam in Russia, speaks out against violence, gunned down
A Russian Imam was murdered in a mosque on Friday for speaking out against violence and the extremist insurgency.
Islamic seconds reports that Magomedkamil Gamzatov was killed as a mosque in Russia’s southern Dagestan region was attacked on Friday.
The Russia Anti-terorism Commission revealed that the attack consisted of four people wearing masks.
“The perpetrator killed two people and set fire to the mosque. Then they fled with the stolen car,” said a Commission statement such as the Anti-Terrorism dilansir RIA Novosti Russia.
Gamzatov is a popular Muslim leader known for his denial of the violence, some say “matches against people’s hard-line extremists.”
Dagestan, which borders the Czech territory in the north Caucasus frequently suffered sporadic attacks in recent years. Russian government point-militant Muslim militant was behind the attack.
