‘Mad Men’ star Jon Hamm joins Sandra Bullock for ‘Despicable Me 2’ spin-off ‘Minions’ movie
Mad Men star Jon Hamm is reportedly been added to the voice cast for Minions film, a follow-up in 2014 to this summer’s Despicable Me 2.
Deadline reports in an April 30 article that Hamm joins Sandra Bullock, who will play Scarlet Overkill, a stylish super-villain who is bent on world domination. Hamm will voice her husband, the inventor Herb Overkill.

The premise used to establish Minions explains that the henchmen have been around for decades, and this story picks up in the 1960s, long before they teamed with Steve Carell’s Gru. Without a true evil leader to follow, three depressed minions go in search of a “gig,” and end up serving Scarlet Overkill.
Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud are also on the project, offering up their voice talents.
The same announcement stated that veteran animated feature film executive Tito Ortiz has returned to Chris Meledandri’s Illumination Entertainment in the position of VP Development. Ortiz was one of the original employees at Illumination when it opened its doors in 2007, serving as Director of Development until 2011.
Despicable Me 2 opens July 3, 2013 while Minions comes to theaters December 19, 2014
