Lyndie Greenwood talks ‘Sleepy Hollow’ season 2, Jenny Mills and get scared on set
The hit Sleepy Hollow TV show is set to return next week and star Lyndie Greenwood details her character’s growth as the show heads into the second season.
“It was dark outside and all of a sudden this acolyte comes up behind me and tapped me on the shoulder and I screamed so loud,” Greenwood said, laughing as she shared the story alongside co-star Orlando Jones at the EUE/Screen Gems Studios lot “They are scary in person, especially when you don’t expect them to be there.”
Taking its inspiration from the Washington Irving’s classic short story, this Sleepy Hollow tale propels Ichabod Crane into a contemporary battle for the fate of the world at the beginning of the apocalypse. The cast is currently filming in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Greenwood talks about finally finding a home on the show.
“I did a lot of work on the show last year but having a more permanent place is nice,” Greenwood said in the Star News Online interview. “It gives you a sense of security, whether that is false or not. It is very nice to feel like a part of the family but I think, as an actress in the TV world, you never really feel that secure.”
At the end of season Jenny was left for dead after a car crash dodging the Headless Horseman as Tom Mison’s Ichabod was buried alive. Abbie (Nicole Beharie) was trapped in some sort of Purgatory.
“We learned a little about her past (in those first few episodes), as it relates to Abbie and their experience in the woods,” Greenwood said. “But there is this big chunk of Jenny’s life that we have missed, and I continue to get tidbits of that as we move forward. I still get really excited to learn about who Jenny is.”
Greenwood sees Jenny as a woman trying to find her role in the apocalyptic fight, but she still steps up.
“I don’t know if Jenny has the social skills necessary to feel part of a group,” Greenwood said. “But she is learning and adapting to being part of this one.”
John Noble returns along with newcomers Timothy Busfield as Benjamin Franklin; Sakina Jaffrey as Sheriff Reyes, Heather Lind as Mary Wells, Crane’s ex from the 18th century; Matt Barr as Nick Hawley, an arms dealer who gets drawn into Ichabod and Abbie’s work; and Aunjanue Ellis as Abbie and Jenny’s (Greenwood) mother, Lori Mills.
Sleepy Hollow returns to Fox on Monday, Sept. 22.
