Luka Magnotta, porn actor, arrested as key suspect in dismembered Chinese student case in Canada
A Canadian porn actor suspected in the dismemberment of a Chinese student was on his way back to Canada on Monday via military transport from Germany, where he was arrested this month.
Luka Rocco Magnotta, charged with first-degree murder in the killing and dismemberment of Montreal student Jun Lin, is on a military plane heading to an unspecified Quebec airport.Magnotta did not fight his extradition.
He is suspected of killing Jun Lin and sending body parts to Canadian political parties and schools.
The head is still missing.Investigators say Magnotta posted a video online showing him having sex with the dismembered corpse.
“The Government of Canada thanks the Government of Germany for their swift and decisive action in this matter,” Nicholson said, adding that they would have no further comment.Magnotta was scheduled to land in Montreal on Monday evening.
Rene Verret of Quebec’s prosecutors’ office said police would likely have him before a judge within 24 hours. A lawyer will be designated at that time.Magnotta, who was arrested in a Berlin cybercafé earlier this month following an international manhunt, is in the custody of RCMP officers.
Lin’s family arrived in Canada earlier this month. In an open letter posted on a Chinese-language website last week his family expressed gratitude to Canadians for the outpouring of support and assistance in the wake of his killing.
