‘Lost’ star Nestor Carbonell talks ‘Dark Night Rises’ returning as Gotham’s Mayor

The “Lost” star Nestor Carbonell was promoting his series “Ringer” which all stars Sarah Michelle Gellar when he was asked about returning for his role as mayor Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises”.

From the Assignment X interview posted yesterday, Carbonell spoke about returning for another Batman film.

I finished my part on The Dark Knight Rises, reprised the role of the Mayor that I got to play in Dark Knight, so that was a lot of fun to be going back and working with [director] Chris Nolan and the whole gang back in England. It was beautiful. It was just great to go back and revisit that role and obviously work with an amazing storyteller, Chris Nolan.

So fans may want to know if the star of Ringer is a comic book fan.

I am now [laughs]! I did a show called The Tick[created by Ben Edlund] years ago. I did the live-action version of a cartoon. I got to play a character named Batmanuel. It wasn’t quite Batman, but it was obviously a takeoff on that. So I think since that, I’ve definitely become a little bit of a comic book guy, and now that I have two young boys who are getting into that, even more so.

“The Dark Knight Rises” remains one of the most anticipated movies for 2012, coming to theaters July 20.

Christian Bale returns as Bruce Wayne/Batman, with Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Cillian Murphy set to reprise their roles from previous Nolan Batman films. Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway are set to play the antagonists in Rises, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard also reuniting with their Inception director.
