Looking ahead to ‘Thor 2’ ‘Hunger Games Catching Fire’ and ‘The Hobbit Desolation of Smaug’

As the summer season wraps up, fans can now look to major pop culture films due this fall.

Among the fan favorites are Thor: The Dark World, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug. All of these were huge successes and the studios are eager to tap into the fan base with these recent updates.

“It’s really an honor to be a part of something that so many people are passionate about,” star Natalie Portman said during the D23 Expo, describing returning for the Thor sequel.

Director Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones) takes over as director says “Kevin Feige is always trying to make the film better, see if he can push it up,” describing the editing and additional scenes as they “never want to stop improving things.”

The first time Coldplay has ever recorded an original song for a motion picture. The song, titled “Atlas,” is scheduled to be available via iTunes and all digital retailers on August 26, 2013.

A new international trailer for the film shows off quite a bit of new footage, delving deeper into the further adventures of Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) as they deal with the aftereffects of the events from the first film.

The clearest difference so far between the direction of Gary Ross and Francis Lawrence looks to be that Lawrence has ditched much of the shaky-cam from Ross’ first film.  (Source: Collider)
