Lisa German killed by husband, Christopher German in New York murder suicide
Police have identified the victim and the shooter in an Upstate New York murder suicide Tuesday as Lisa German, killed by her estranged husband, Christopher German.
Christopher German’s employer became concerned after he didn’t show up for work and contacted 911, prompting troopers to visit the home in he Delaware County town of Stamford, 45 miles southwest of Albany.
Authorities discovered Lisa German, 52, dead and Christopher German, 57, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound from a .38 caliber revolver.
State police say a man killed his estranged wife in her Upstate New York home before killing himself with a gun.
During a news conference at Troop C headquarters in Unadilla, Captain Scott Heggelke of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation recounted that police entered Lisa’s first-floor residence on Route 10 to find the couple dead on the living room floor with gunshot wounds.
The bodies were transported to Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, where Dr. James Terzian conducted an autopsy.
According to Trooper Aga Dembinska, Troop C public information officer, the coroner ruled Lisa’s death a homicide, with one gunshot wound to the body and one fatal shot to the head. Dembinska said the initial shot was not fired from behind. Christopher’s death was ruled a suicide from one self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
“None of our neighborhood interviews, as of this time, have given us any leads or developed any information that leads to anything different,” Heggelke said.
The couple had three children together, police said. Their children, ages 20, 17 and 13, are now staying with local family.
“This is a very sad, tragic event that took place,” Heggelke said. He confirmed there is no risk to the public at this time, but encouraged community members to “be there for each other.”
The couple had no previously reported domestic incidents with the State Police.
