Like Daniel Craig, Prince William and Prince Harry lands ‘Star Wars 8’ roles as Stormtroopers
Prince William and his brother Prince Harry visited the sets of Star Wars Episode VIII and news is that the pair landed cameos as Stormtroopers in the film.
Set photos revealed William and Harry alongside director Rian Johnson, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Mark Hamill.
Daily Mail reports that Prince William and Prince Harry shot a scene in which Rey and Finn infiltrate a secret base. The scene features a new villain by the curiously Indian-origin name, Lord Vikram (Benicio Del Toro).
“The line given was that they were going to have lunch and a private tour of the rest of the set. What really happened is that the director came over and told them it was time to ‘get suited’ and off they went to the wardrobe department,” said the source to the Mail.
“The princes dressed up in full Stormtrooper gear and filmed a scene in which Rey and Finn infiltrate a secret base. The rebel characters are in a lift with Benicio del Toro’s character when a group of Stormtroopers enter – two of whom are William and Harry,” the source added. It is more or less a given that if their scene makes the final cut, we’ll just be seeing them with their helmets on, just like that Daniel Craig cameo.
Craig’s Stormtrooper character was credited in Star Wars: The Force Awakens as JB-007, which basically “James Bond 007,” a respectful nod to his masterful turn as the super-spy character based on Ian Fleming’s writings.
Disney has declined to comment on whether the story regarding the two princes is true, but the spokesman for the two royal brothers said that “The princes had a great day showcasing the British talent behind Star Wars.”
Star Wars Episode VIII releases on December 15, 2017 in the US.
